Why Another Church?
Good question. In other words, I guess the question is do we need another church? If there are already churches in the area why want or need a new one? Well there are several answers why it is feasible and good to start a new church.
Let me begin by addressing a perceived sense of competition. We are not competing against other churches.
No one church can serve everybody. Let’s think about it mathematically. There are so many people in Boston. How on earth can it be possible that one church or the existing churches can serve such a quantity of people? It’s infeasible.
Also, many churches are declining. Simply stated every year in the United States many churches are closing their doors. They are shutting down because they are dying.
There are different churches for different types of people. Every church has a distinct style, flavor, or sub-culture. No one church is alike. Because of this certain churches are effective amongst different types of people. Today in America there is a lack of churches that are being or becoming what we want to be. Our church is different. It's not better but it certainly is unique. There's will be notthing identical to the church down the street and there won't be another ethne.
New churches have a better sense of vision and vitality. By nature of its infancy new churches are more likely to articulate their purpose and they will be more responsive their community. Some, (emphasis on some), old churches have lost their vision and purpose and just seem to exist without any clear direction. It’s like the difference between a 3 year old daring, adventurous boy and an older adult who might be complacent with just doing the same ol’ thing. In some cases the older adult may have also lost the desire to dream and pursue. We are growing infant church growing and ready to interact with our world, discover life in our surroundings and have a blast!
