This page is what we would call primary or essential theology. That is, the stuff and essence of faith in God through Christ Jesus. We use the word 'primary' to signify and express that these are the essentials of the faith that one must have in order to be saved from their sin, forgiven, and united with God. These are the things which the Bible makes clear. Here we have not exhaustively expounded everything within the Bible, but merely explained where we are coming from.
Beliefs
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, given to man for the purposes of salvation, knowing God, and making Him known to all. The scriptures were written by both man and God. God, the author, inspired man to write the scriptures and no one can add to or take away from the 66 canonized books of the Holy Bible. The Bible is useful for correction, teaching, and training in righteousness. We believe that the Bible is inerrant, inspired, infallible and that no inspired scripture exists outside the Bible. (Deuteronomy 17:19; 32:47; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:89, 105; Luke 21:23; John 5:39; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17)
2. God
We believe God is the author of life. He always has existed, always is existing, and always will exist. He is the source of life. His ways are above our ways. He is infinitely good, perfect and holy. He is sovereign over everything seen and unseen, known and unknown. We affirm the doctrine of the Trinity - that is, God exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 3:14; Exodus 15:11-12; Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Chronicles 29:10-11; Isaiah 43:10; Matthew 28:19; John 14)
3. God the Father
God the Father is the first member of the Godhead. He is impassible, unchanging and eternal, and has revealed Himself to man from the beginning of the ages. (Genesis 1:1; John 4:24; 5:26; 1:6-13; 17:1-8; 2 Thessalonians 1:2; Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:13; 1 Peter 1:17)
4. God the Son
God’s Son came to earth born in flesh, being Jesus the Christ/Messiah. He existed before all things. He is not a creature but is God himself. He is perfectly, fully, 100% God and perfectly, fully, 100% man dwelling in the flesh as the Messiah, the Christ. He is the exact representation of the Father. His coming was foretold through the prophets of the Old Testament. He lived a perfect life, then was crucified on a cross as a sacrifice for the sins of man. He was buried and He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death once for all. He later ascended to heaven where he sits at the right hand of the Father. (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Luke 24:26-7; 44-47; John 1:1-5; 14; 10:30-33; 20:28; Hebrews 1:8; Philippians 2:9-11)
5. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a not a force but God Himself who speaks to men. He guides believers in truth, comforts them, and leads them in life. He also bestows gifts unto the church for the edification of the body to fulfill God’s purposes. He speaks to the hearts of the lost and regenerates man by enabling their hearts to receive Christ Jesus. (Genesis 1:2; Judges 14:6; Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:35; Acts 5:3-4; 2; Romans 12:6-8; Corinthians 3:17; 12:1-11; Galatians 4:6; 5:22-23; Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 9:8)
6. Man and Sin
Man was created by God in His image. When man chose to be disobedient to God, sin was adjoined to mankind through Adam and Eve. This is inherited sin (AKA 'original sin'). Additionally, all of mankind has sin. None is perfect. Man is totally depraved. Man cannot do anything to release himself from his sin or acquit himself of the consequence of sin. Because of our sin, we are doomed to face the judgment of a righteous holy God. In Conclusion, Man is guilty before God on two counts (a) original sin and (b) the sin he regularly practices. Sin affects our hearts, relationships, and society. It affects everything we see and experience that is not God. (Genesis 1:26-30; 2:5,7,18-22; 3:1-27; Romans 1:19 -32; 3:16 ; 6:23 )
7. Salvation
Jesus Christ is man’s only hope from the judgment of his sin. Salvation is found in no one else. To be saved from sin, one must accept the Lord Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord and repent from his sin. We are saved by God alone through faith in God alone. The hope of salvation is the fulfillment of redemption which the saints of God, the believers of God through Christ Jesus His Son, will experience in heaven. (Matthew 1:21; 4:17; Luke 2:28-32; John 3:16; 14:6; Romans 8:29-39; 10:9-10; Hebrews 2:3-4; 5:8-9; 1 John 1:9)
8. God’s Use of Grace
God’s sovereign way in which he saves us is not by our own merit of what we may have done but as a gift from Him. He graciously gives unto us salvation which no man or thing may take from us, nor may anyone remove us from his hand. We affirm the eternal security of the believer. (Jeremiah 31:31ff; Matthew 21:28 -32; 24:22; John 5:24 ; Acts 20:32 ; Romans 5:9-10; 8:28 -39; Ephesians 1:4-23; Colossians 1:12 -14)
